Literacy Center Updates

Tara West

Hey there friends!  We’ve made it halfway through October..woo hoo!  I’m not sure about you, but it seems once October arrives everything just starts to fall into place!  We have fall parent/teacher conferences next week so I’ve spent a few days grade card assessing.  Talk about proud!!!!  It still amazes me how fast these little ones can learn.  Just one example..a little one knew 1 letter at the start of school.  When reassessed yesterday they knew all capital AND lowercase….except q!  I was for sure excited! 🙂  If you have conferences coming up be sure to check out THIS post for conference ideas & freebies!

I wanted to share with you my current word work stations.  I know a lot of you like to see what’s in my baskets so here it is…..I will leave links to each activity for you! 🙂

Cookie Sheet ABC’s and CVC Puzzlers

The adorable puzzles are from Scholastic…however, in the above mentioned packet I have provided puzzlers for you 🙂

Ready, Set, Go letter name fluency practice- I purchased the timer from the Dollar Tree!  I placed several layers of tape over the “buzzer.”  It now makes a very quiet beep beep 🙂

Peanut Butter & Jelly match ups for beginning sounds and recording sheet.  This comes from an adorable activity packet by Miss Kindergarten Love.

One of my absolute faves….Word, Build, Write

Letter Picture Sorts

Build a Word and  Baggin’ up beginning sounds

To help eliminate students asking what each picture is during daily 5 I place a self-check letter on the back of each card 🙂

Also, an FYI….if you purchased my Active Play Math Centers packet it has now been updated with a lot more printable materials.  You can download the latest version by viewing it in your ‘my purchases’ tab!

Have a super ending to your week!
